A fount of wisdom, passionate ornithologist, elephant whisperer and gentle soul, Shirley is one of Sri Lanka's leading ecologists and conservationists.

Having devoted over 40 years to the Wildlife Department, serving as Senior Warden in almost every National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in the island, he is never short of a tale to tell of his times in the jungle, which are often plentiful of insights into the ways of the wilderness.
