Devotees of Lord Kataragama are gathering here in numbers before setting off on the final leg of their pilgrimage which will take them through Yala National Park to the town of Katagarama over a 7 day journey on foot. The pilgrimage is known as the Pada Yatra, and is observed by more than 20,000 pilgrims from around the island annually.
